What to Eat Before Working Out

It is important to properly feed your body before exercise workouts. Bodies need plenty of protein, fiber, water and complex carbohydrates to keep functioning properly. There is not an excessive need for extra nutrition right before workouts; however, it is important to eat well to repair damage to muscles and tendons that often occurs while exercising. Also, drinking plenty of water flushes out waste products that build up in body cells.
Drink to your health
Most doctors feel that people should drink at least six to eight glasses of water daily. During routines, it is imperative to prevent dehydration. Excessive dehydration can lead to faint feelings, collapse or death. So, it is important to keep a water bottle handy. It is best that people drink right before starting a workout and drink a glass soon after. There is not much need for special fluids, such as Gatorade, although those involved in heavy workouts or high-contact sports sometimes benefit from their use.
Your body needs fuel
Before working out, consider eating an energy bar or try a helping of whole wheat pasta. Bodies convert foods into glucose, a sugar needed as fuel. Excess food is turned into fat, stored for later use when food is low. Keeping your body properly fueled with complex carbohydrates, such as those found in whole-grain foods, makes sure that your body has a sugar reserve to fall back on when it is needed.
There is no need to eat or drink excessively before working out. However, drinking a glass of water and ingesting a few carbohydrates helps you to get extra mileage out of your routine. Instead of tiring in the middle, you can have extra energy and end your workout feeling great.
